Getting married on one of the Neighbor Islands?

We recommend that you print out this page and take it with you.

Thanks to Aloha Airlines that is no problem at all. Aloha offers "chilled cargo service" between all islands and Honolulu. This is the service used for bringing in fresh flowers and fish from the Neighbor Islands to the Honolulu marketplace. Your flowers will be kept refrigerated the entire time except that period when they are on the airplane (average flight time between Islands is 25 minutes). Island Air also offers service from Kapalua, see below for details.

Need a ride? Your hotel concierge or wedding coordinator should be able to recommend a reliable taxi service to take care of this for you.

How and when should I send my flowers?

We always suggest you send us the flowers as soon as you can. Once flowers have been cut, made into a bouquet, used in a wedding bouquet and have been posing for photos with the bride and groom in Hawaii's wonderful tropical weather they have a limited life span. The sooner we freeze them down to -20 degrees the better! When possible you should try to send them the same day. Your wedding coordinator or concierge can usually help with the details. When it comes to receiving your flowers we are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

We recommend the following method for sending your flowers:

1. Buy a cheap styrofoam cooler.

2. Put the flowers into a plastic bag (hotel laundry bag works well), add some damp paper towel and seal the bag.

3. Place into cooler and fill space with any kind of packing material such as foam chips, crumpled newspaper, etc.. Make sure the bouquet isn't moving around. We don't recommend blowing into the bag as the dead air space will allow the bouquet to move around during transit.

4. Mark the cooler "TO KEEPSAKES HAWAII, Tel: 808-951-5337"

5. Take the cooler to Aloha Airlines Cargo.

6. When practical call us at 808-951-5337 and tell us the tracking number and the expected arrival time of the flight. Our voicemail instantly notifies us by pager of any messages so you can leave a message.

7. Aloha charges $25.00 including tax. Maximum weight is over 40 lbs. so any cooler size is okay. Remember to specify "chilled service" or "please keep it cold." We will pick up your flowers at Honolulu Airport at no charge.

8. At this point we should have already processed your order, have your contact information and received payment for the order.

9. If you have to keep the flowers overnight it is best to bag them as described above and keep them refrigerated. Be careful not to let them freeze.
